Right Angle Boot –
90° Heat Shrink Cable Elbow
Pre-moulded heat shrink 90° elbow boot for routing MV and LV cable connections in confined switchgear, motor terminal boxes and cable sealing boxes where straight cable entry is not possible. Adhesive lined. Up to 36kV.
Overview
Modern electrical installations increasingly use compact switchgear, ring main units and motor terminal boxes where there is insufficient vertical clearance for a straight cable entry. Bending a terminated cable by hand to achieve the required entry angle creates unacceptable mechanical stress at the termination and risks cracking the insulation at the bend. A right angle boot solves this problem by providing a pre-engineered 90° moulded elbow that routes the cable in the correct direction while distributing the bend over the designed minimum bend radius. The adhesive inner lining seals the interface between the boot and the cable for moisture-proof performance. VIKCHEM manufactures right angle boots for the full range of MV and LV cable sizes used in Indian power systems.
Key Features
- Pre-moulded 90° elbow — cable exits at a right angle from the connection point
- Eliminates cable bending stress — the moulded radius is engineered to minimum bend radius
- Adhesive inner lining — moisture-proof seal at both cable and connector interfaces
- Suitable for MV and LV cable applications up to 36kV
- Compatible with single-core XLPE and PILC cables
- Strain relief built in — the boot body mechanically supports the cable at the 90° bend
- Available in sizes covering 35mm² to 630mm² cables
- Flame retardant and UV resistant — suitable for indoor and outdoor applications
Applications
Confined Space Switchgear
Where cable entry height is limited and a straight-down entry is not possible due to panel depth.
Motor Terminal Boxes
Routing MV and LV supply cables into motor terminal boxes with limited depth and clearance.
Transformer LV Bushings
Turning cable direction at LV bushing connections where vertical cable entry is required.
RMU Cable Connections
Space-saving 90° entry into ring main unit cable boxes and compact switchgear.
GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear)
Compact cable routing at GIS cable end boxes where space is critically limited.
Cable Sealing Boxes
Right-angle cable entry into cable sealing boxes on transformers and outdoor switchgear.
