Overview
Exposed cable lug connections in switchgear, distribution boards and motor terminal boxes are a significant shock and arc-flash hazard during panel operations, live testing and maintenance. Terminal protection boots provide insulating covers over crimped lugs and bolted connections that reduce live exposure to IP2X (finger-safe) levels — allowing safe panel access and operation without switching off the supply. VIKCHEM manufactures terminal protection boot kits in both push-on (re-enterable) and heat shrink (permanent seal) versions, colour-coded to RYB phase identification standards for Indian electrical installations.
Available Types
Push-On Terminal Boot
Flexible rubber or elastomeric boot that slides over cable lug and terminal connection without tools. Suitable for quick-fit and re-enterable applications.
Heat Shrink Terminal Boot
Heat shrink version that permanently bonds to the cable and lug — preferred for outdoor and underground applications where long-term sealing is required.
Bolt-On Protection Cover
Rigid or semi-rigid insulating cover for bolted bus bar connections and cable lug bolt heads. Provides mechanical and electrical protection at HV termination bolt positions.
