Heat Shrink Wraparound Sleeve
Longitudinally closing heat shrink sleeve for cable jacket repair and joint covering without disconnecting cable ends. Wraps around the cable, closes with a rail system and shrinks to a hermetic seal — no need to remove the cable from service.
Overview
A wraparound sleeve solves the fundamental problem of conventional heat shrink tubing — it cannot be threaded onto a cable that is already terminated or in-service. The wraparound sleeve is supplied as a flat sheet that is wrapped around the cable and secured at the longitudinal edges using an aluminium closure rail or adhesive closure strip. Once closed, it is heated like a conventional tube — shrinking to grip the cable and bonding the adhesive inner lining to form a hermetic, weatherproof seal. VIKCHEM manufactures wraparound sleeves for emergency cable jacket repair, joint outer sleeve applications and cable protection in outdoor installations throughout India.
Key Features
- Longitudinally closing design — wraps around cable without disconnecting cable ends
- Closure rail system — aluminium rail or closure strip locks the sleeve edges during shrinking
- Adhesive inner lining — bonds to cable jacket on shrinking for moisture-proof seal
- UV and ozone resistant outer wall — suitable for outdoor and aerial cable repairs
- Flame retardant — suitable for in-service cable repair in enclosed areas
- Available in diameters covering cables from 20mm to 250mm OD
- Re-enterable — can be removed for cable re-termination or inspection if required
- Colour: black standard; printed with manufacturer and voltage rating for identification
Applications
Cable Jacket Repair
Emergency repair of mechanical damage to cable outer jacket on in-service underground cables.
Joint Outer Sleeve
Overall covering of cable jointing assemblies where a tubular sleeve cannot be pre-threaded.
Aerial Bundled Cable Repair
Repairing damaged insulation on ABC (aerial bundled conductor) cables without disconnection.
Outdoor Cable Protection
Covering exposed cable sections at pole mounts, duct exits and aboveground cable runs.
Re-termination Sealing
Covering the cable jacket area after cable terminations are reworked or extended on energised networks.
Pipe and Conduit Entry Sealing
Sealing cable entry points at conduit and duct ends in outdoor structures.
