The new type of silicon rubber was examined by the accelerated weathering tests and applied to the shed material of the polymeric surge Arrester, The test confirmed that the silicone rubber had an excellent weather resistance and high water repellence during the long term weathering tests, the polymeric surge Arrester with the new type of silicone rubber showed a high performance at the pressure relief tests according IEC60099-4(1991).
